I think the ratings agencies now rule the world - markets rise and fall on their conclusions. Even the UK has been at risk of losing its triple A status rating. Luckily we’re not going down the road of the Greeks yet though.

I am tired of that excuse and I believe most americans tire of that excuse. Full disclosure - we have a right to know esp. if you are bankshareholders. Regulation FD requires disclosures of material events for public companies - ask yourself if your bank is secretly being bailed out by the FEDERAL RESERVE. Is that material information? I think so and it must be disclosed.
Runs on banks are protected with insured deposits - we are preventing runs on the corporate shareholder structure (bonds and stocks of banks). There would be runs on those for sure if the truth were to be disclosed bc they are insolvent.

Where is your proof of this ? A charge that the President knew the levees had broken, yet deliberately kept quiet, needs to be be backed up.

This is the report from the NYT:

“Michael D. Brown, who was the director of FEMA until he resigned under pressure on Sept. 12, said in a telephone interview Thursday that he personally notified the White House of this news that night, though he declined to identify the official he spoke to.

White House officials have confirmed to Congressional investigators that the report of the levee break arrived there at midnight, and Trent Duffy, the White House spokesman, acknowledged as much in an interview this week, though he said it was surrounded with conflicting reports.”

This is not the same as “Bush knew”, unless you are a dsitorting, lying blogger. Brown won’t say who he spoke with ? Yeah, sure…that is real believeable. And just because a report “arrives”, it doesn’t mean that it was read. It may have been incompetence, or stupidity (like yours), but that doesn’t come close to “the White House withheld the information”.

I say you are a liar. Prove that I am wrong.
